about camp chaos

camp chaos was inspired from a little cabin in the Maine woods and a funny little puppy named chaos who lived there. Chaos has since grown into a  mellow golden retriever and now has a bit of Mayhem in his life.

Dave and I met in 2004 and started dating that November at Sugarloaf in the western mountains of Maine. Dave's a snowmaker who also makes a mean cup of coffee and can paint a straight line, I am an office monkey who also enjoys blogging. (I'm also a glutard and you can read more about that journey here....)

I adopted Chaos in February from the Uncle Henry's but soon realized that he wasn't just our dog, he is an important part of our life, a great subject to photograph as well as a great listener, hiking buddy, ski monster, water dog and more.

We also have a grumpy kitty who has adapted, as well as cats can, to a life with Chaos and Mayhem. She loves her pups and enjoys yelling at them for crossing her path. She is also an excellent tent tester.

In 2006 we moved cross country to the San Juan Mountains and began the Colorado version of Camp Chaos... we left behind the little cabin in the woods with the wood stove and good friends and packed the cat and pup into a Subaru, Tacoma and a small u-haul and  moved to a condo 2,600 miles away.

In 2010 we had a bit of Mayhem enter our lives. We adopted him from Colorado Springs and drove through a snowstorm to pick him up. He quickly adapted to a life in Camp Chaos and riding gondolas. Chaos grew to love his brother and Mayhem loves emulating Chaos.

Life at camp chaos is busy with two monsters, cross country travels, skiing, climbing, festivals and more. We enjoy life in Telluride and love going back east to spend time at Sugarloaf where it all began.
